Merging complex processes for Allianz Cinema

Allianz Cinema is an impressive open-air cinema event that has been taking place in a continuously evolving form since 2019. The event, which takes place against a picturesque backdrop, attracted between 1,700 and 2,200 guests per evening on 56 evenings in Basel and Zurich in 2019 and has enjoyed growing popularity ever since.

As the event has expanded over the years, the complexity of the organizational and technical requirements has also grown. This made it necessary to redesign the processes, as traditional, manual procedures such as managing ticket allocations via spreadsheets were becoming increasingly impractical. In particular, managing tickets and reservations for sponsors and partners was a major challenge.

The solution was to develop a centralized, seamless online platform that would allow guests, sponsors and partners alike to use the event efficiently. The system integrates reservation, ticketing and e-commerce functions as well as content management and business processes into a single platform. Guests can now conveniently book, print or forward tickets to friends from any device. A personalized experience is also offered via a password-protected account.

For the Cinerent organizers who manage the event, there is now a central backend portal that can be used to efficiently manage all organizational tasks. This includes not only ticket management, but also the analysis and marketing of ticketing data, which enables the precise targeting of the audience.

The system not only offers visitors a convenient and user-friendly experience, but also provides event organizers with a range of opportunities to increase sales. There are extensive up-selling and cross-selling options as well as a flexible promotion system that makes it possible to create customized offers for different events.

In order to meet the requirements of such a high-demand event - especially with high ticket requests - the platform is based on a scalable, container-based microservice architecture. This ensures stability and performance, even at peak loads.

The result is a high-performance system that not only meets organizational requirements, but also optimizes the event experience for guests and organizers. The Allianz Cinema was thus transformed from a logistically challenging event into a technological success story that impresses in terms of both user experience and performance.
